In the 1930's a massage therapist named Euince Ingham refined Dr. Fitzgerald's theory and developed what is now know as "reflexology".  She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrored congestion or tension in a related part of the body.  Therefore, treating the areas of the feet could have a relaxing and healing effect on different organs and tissues inside the body.

Nerve endings are embedded in the feet that travel to the spinal cord and to various parts of the body.  Stimulating these nerve endings helps promote relaxation, improve circulation, stimulate vital organs in the body and encourage the body's natural healing processes.  Unlike conventional medicine, reflexology works on the theory that blockages stop the body from functioning at its most optimum and efficient level.  By removing the blockages the body can communicate with its corresponding organs.

Blockages are usually waste products or sediment created by the body that has not been cleared by the systems.  The reflexologist applies pressure to the foot and sometimes the lower leg to disperse the blockages so that the body can proceed to eliminate the waste product and move towards a  more optimal health level

At your first visit you will be asked to fill out a "Client Intake".  This will provide your therapist with your medical history and currently state of health.  You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and recline comfortably on our heated treatment tables.

The treatment involves light but firm, compression massage to the soles and uppers of your feet.  It is possible that some may sense a dramatic reaction at the first treatment (tingling, buzzing to various body areas) but most people feel extremely relaxed to the point of falling asleep ... this is a good thing as the body is in the best state to rest and repair.

After your treatment, you will be asked to keep in touch with how you feel and make note of any changes: sleeping better, better appetite, better digestion movement, reduction of stress, etc.  Drinking of water is important to help eliminate those waste products that caused the blockages.

Reflexology treatments range anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes.  For optimal results, regular sessions are recommended approximately every 4 to 6 weeks.

Reflexology practitioners do not diagnose or treat conditions - they treat people, and reflexology is not a substitute for mainstream medical care.  However, it has been proven to be very beneficial for a wide range of chronic and acute conditions - especially for all stress-related problems.  Many practitioners have reported that clients with problems such as: sinusitis, asthma, migraine, depression, ME, muscular and skeletal disorders, menstrual problems, hypertension, bowel disorders, etc. have benefited from treatment.
