Therapeutic Massage is the planned manual treatment of the body’s soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, myofacial). The purpose of seeking this type of complementary healthcare is to: promote circulation of the blood and lymph, breakdown scar tissue, relax muscles, relief from pain, and the restoration of metabolic balance.
Associated Massage Professionals Inc.’s skilled therapists utilize a combination of light to deep pressure therapeutic massage techniques to achieve objectives such as noted above.
I have insurance through my work. Is massage therapy covered?
Many Calgary workplace insurance plans cover complementary healthcare such as massage therapy and reflexology. Employers supporting these plans understand how important it is to have healthy, happy employees and they hope that it is utilized.
Check with your Human Resource Department or Insurance Provider for massage therapy coverage. Most do not require a physician's note for treatments, although a few may still have this requirement. Most plans require massage therapy to be administered by a Registered Massage Therapist. Associated Massage Professionals Inc. only retains insurance qualified and registered massage therapists to meet insurance requirements and high quality healthcare.
Today's plans require the individual to pay for the treatment and submit the expense for reimbursement. You will be provided with an RMT authorized receipt for your treatment for this purpose.

I have a long-standing injury or health condition can massage therapy help me?
Massage therapy can be beneficial to people of all ages and conditions. It is widely used to help obtain relief from many specific problems, including:
· Inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and tendinitis · Stress relief and associated conditions · Headaches and migraines · Muscle and related conditions such as spasms, strains and sprains · Back pain (recent injury or chronic) · Repetitive strain injury · Circulatory and Respiratory problems · Pregnancy and labour discomfort · Post-injury and post surgical rehabilitation

How often should I have massage therapy?
Due to how great people feel after their massage … most would tell you, “Every day if I could!”
In reality, each case is different. Most feel significant changes after just one treatment. A sense of relief, pain reduction or a break from the stress is enough for them to exist in their life/job comfortably.
However, massage therapy is most beneficial in acute conditions when used over a series of treatments until the body has had a chance to mend and respond favourably to: being pain free, better range of motion, reduced muscle tension, etc.
As we all know nothing great lasts forever, massage therapy works best if used as a health maintenance and proactive healthcare method, much like eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and getting a good nights rest.
Our Registered Massage Therapists can help you decide which program fits your physical needs. Your Massage Therapist is most interested in your recovery and in the maintenance of your health. Any recommendation for further treatment is being made by a qualified health professional and is made with your utmost care and wellness in mind.
